Gasolina Perdigón

The Gasolina is one of the most proven nymphs on the Spanish competition circuit, and it's earned that spot.

It's a perdigon, so a slim resin-coated body and almost nothing else.

That skinny resin body cuts through the current and sinks fast, so it's down at the fish before your drift falls apart.

That's what you want in fast, broken water where the trout only get a split second to decide.

Nothing on it slows it down, no dubbing, no legs, just a hot orange base under a thin coat of resin, buggy enough to pass for near enough any nymph in the drift.

I finish the wingcase in a variety of colors.

If you don't have perdigon thread the classic method is a dark thread and some mylar tinsel or flashabou.

• Bead: Tungsten, black gold, 2mm
• Thread 1: Semperfli Classic Waxed 12/0, fl orange
• Tail: Coq de Leon Pardo
• Thread 2: Sybai Perdigon Thread 130d, brown olive
• UV resin body: thin
• UV resin wingcase: medium, purple

Fish it on a euro rig or drop it off a bigger fly as your point. In fast water cast it well upstream and let it get down, and if you're not ticking bottom now and then you're not deep enough. The takes usually come right as it reaches depth in the seam.
